The scene depicts elegant ladies observing from a pavilion balcony above a garden gathering of figures in flowing robes, with an embroidered ball, attendants and baskets amid pierced rockwork and stylized golden clouds. Mounted within contrasting figured-silk brocade borders woven with roundels and scrolling foliage, in a giltwood frame. Excellent, clean condition overall, retaining strong color and a bright gold ground; with minor, stable thread loss at the roof eaves consistent with age — see detailed images.
