No. 1416 / Italian Carved White Marble Jardinière with Acanthus Leaves

An Italian carved white marble jardinière, 19th century, of elongated rectangular form, the entire body sculpted as overlapping acanthus leaves, the deeply undercut tips curling freely at the rim. Carved from a single block, with crisp naturalistic detail throughout.Condition: old surface accretion and staining consistent with garden use; two old repairs on edge.
