No. 2854 / George I-II Carved Giltwood Mirror, In the Palladian Manner of William Kent

Carved giltwood frame with broken swan-neck pediment surmounted by a central putto mask cartouche, the sides with cascading carved foliate drops and pendant scrolls, the apron with a carved shell and acanthus cartouche over a punched gesso ground featuring a bee-and-foliate motif. Original gilding with sympathetic restoration. Mirror plate later replaced. Acquired from Kentshire, New York.
