An 18th century Welsh oak bench of generous length, the single-plank seat with cove-moulded edge retaining a richly patinated and worn surface, raised on a pair of splayed "A" frame supports joined by stretchers. Of traditional pegged construction, the legs secured with through-tenons wedged from above and visible in the seat top, alongside scribed carpenter's assembly marks. Generations of honest wear throughout, the dry, silvered seat surface and deep colour achievable only through age and use. A handsome and versatile piece at 77 inches — well suited to an entry, hallway, or as seating along a dining table
