A rare pair of lounge chairs by Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet, France, circa 1950s. Of substantial, sculptural form, each generously scaled chair has its solid oak frame entirely wrapped and basket-woven in braided raffia, a labor-intensive treatment distinct from the designers' lighter thin-rope seating. Fitted with loose cushions in ivory upholstery. In very fine original condition, retaining the original raffia with a warm natural patina. A documented pair by the celebrated French duo, whose woven-fiber furniture — admired alongside the work of Charlotte Perriand — remains among the most sought-after of mid-century French design.
